About me
What would the Christmas season be without novelty jumpers, chunky knits and patterned cardigans? But this is not about the kind of jumper your granny buys you for Christmas and more about the 1980s inspired woolies., taking inspiration from last seasons tribal trends. It is all about bright colours, aztec prints and geometric designs. These winter warmers can be worn with jeans or chinos and a white tee. Top off the look with trainers or boots and see just for easy, practical and cozy this trend can be. This season, designers have also launched a range of traditional novelty jumpers including Ralph Lauren’s snowflake patterned cardigan (see image below). Think back to Seth Cowen from The O.C, because geek chic is well and truly back.
Kisses under the mistletoe for christmas!! :) Merry Christmas followers!

I saw these nails on Tuesday and just had to try it out! Below is a picture of the final outcome along with a list of the products used. Great thing about this design is it is so simple to do yet you can create so many different looks by using different colours. You can also change the thickness of the tip depending on the length of your nails.

Third year UCLan Fashion and Brand Management student, Claire Wilkinson is currently in the running to receive a £3,000 backing from Channel 4′s ‘The Stake’. Her proposal asks for money to create a modelling agency which is run by young people, for young people.
‘I understand that the modelling industry is very competitive and hard to get into and the services such as photoshoots and makeovers they offer are extremely costly, but I want to set up a business which is affordable for young people and can give them the opportunity to live their dream.’
Staff and volunteers would also be able to gain experience in photography, organising events, public relations, management, styling, promotion and visual merchandising.
‘With the current economical climate and high unemployment I want to give young people real skills which will give them a starting step onto the career ladder.’
‘I also hope to help promote local business via working together to gain opportunities and experience for models and staff, as well as creating affordable promotional material for the companies involved.’
Voting closes December 23rd 2011

Final campaign research
Up to 13 new societies could be available for students to join this year.
Included in the list are the Japanese, Cultural Film and Mauritian societies.
The new influx brings more opportunities for students to get involved with extra-curricular activities.
Jack Banks, the Students’ Union’s Activities and Participations Officer was looking forward to the arrival of the new societies.
He said: “I think that the new societies are important to UCLan as it is always adding to the depth of societies that we have available and creates a greater depth and variety of activities for students to take part in.”
Whilst some of the clubs have been confirmed others including Japanese and Darts and Pool, are still in progress of being set up such as the Duke of Edinburgh, Debating and Amnesty societies.
Lee Bradshaw, who is in the process of setting up a Labour Society, spoke of the importance for UCLan students to be politically involved.
“This society will give students the space to be able to learn how to campaign, listen to guest speakers and help change things,” he said.
Claire Wilkinson, the founder of the new Fashion society said: “I wanted to set up a new society to meet new people, get to know people with similar interests and network with other students.”
All clubs and societies will be at the Clubs and Societies Fair at 53 Degrees on Friday 16 September between 12 and 4pm for anybody wanting to sign up.
